Winnipeg has cell reception!!!!

Hi there....it's been a L O N G time since I've been able to get to this blog! Sorry for that. We usually get our internet connection from Dave's cell. We tether it to the laptop. Well, all across Sask. and most of Manitoba, we haven't gotten any cell coverage at all. Here in Winnipeg it is very weak. Dave is holding the cell phone up to the window in the only spot it seems to work. Consequently, this will have to be a short blog with no pics.

So....where did we leave off...oh yeah, we left Drumheller and went to Delburne and camped. We took the Albert Prairie Train from Stettler to Big Valley. It was an old steam engine. We got held up by bandits and there was a shootout with the Lawman and the bad guys. The kids loved it. In Big Valley the fed us a great roast beef dinner and then back on the train to Stettler. On our drive back to the campsite in Delburne, we took a wrong road and ended up in Red Deer. We eventually found our way back to camp.

The next day we left for Hitchcock Bay, SK. On the way we realized that we drive right through Big Valley and that was where the Neufeld family was headed to see the Creation Musuem there, so we decided to meet them there. We had a nice visit and saw the museum.

We then left for Sask. late of course. It was dark when we got close to the campsite on Lake Diefenbaker, so we couldn't find the camp. We drove around for almost 2 hours in the dark trying to find the right dirt road (which of course don't have street name signs) The woman at the campground gave us directions and said it would be tricky to find in the dark! She was right. They didn't have camp signs along the roads she sent us on because she sent us the back way. The usual road was washed out because of all the rain they have been having. We finally found it around 11:30pm.

The next morning was beautiful and we enjoyed a relaxing day at the beach. The lake was perfect and the beach sandy and uncrowded!

The next day we woke up to terrible wind and rain. Thankfully we were leaving. We left around 9:45 am and got to our campsite in Winnipeg at 12:30 am. It was a long day of driving!! And yes, I have been doing some of the driving!

Today, we tried to take it easy around the campground. The kids played at the playground and in the minigolf. They also have pool table and arcade games. We did head into the city for some supplies. We found the Costco and loaded up. We enjoyed a great steak BBQ.

Tomorrow we are going to the Royal Canadian Mint. The next day we leave for Thunder Bay, ON. Hope I can get some pics up soon.
